TSHL Announces Cristen Copeland as Governor #5

Experienced high school hockey leader elected to represent western high school clubs on the Texas Scholastic Hockey League Board of Governors.

DALLAS, TX — Following the announcement of the Texas Scholastic Hockey League's inaugural governance structure, the TSHL is pleased to announce the election of Cristen Copeland as Governor #5 of the league's inaugural Board of Governors.

As Governor #5, Copeland will serve as the representative for the western high school hockey clubs. This position ensures that clubs from the western side of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex have a dedicated voice in league governance while helping the Board make decisions that support the continued growth and success of high school hockey throughout the region.

Copeland brings nearly a decade of experience building and leading a high school hockey organization in North Texas. Her commitment to collaboration, communication, and transparency, combined with years of hands-on leadership, makes her uniquely qualified to represent western clubs on the inaugural TSHL Board of Governors.

About Cristen Copeland

For the past nine years, Copeland has been deeply involved in growing high school hockey in North Texas as the founder of Northwest Hockey Club. From helping build the program from the ground up to overseeing its day-to-day operations, she has gained firsthand experience in nearly every aspect of operating a high school hockey organization.

Throughout that time, she has worked closely with players, families, coaches, volunteers, league officials, rink management, and other organizations, giving her a well-rounded understanding of both the opportunities and challenges facing high school hockey. She believes the strongest organizations are built through collaboration and by empowering passionate people with different strengths and perspectives to work toward a common goal.

Copeland's experience extends well beyond a single club. Through the hockey journeys of her three children, she has experienced nearly every level of hockey available throughout the Metroplex, including House, A, AA, AAA, Dallas Stars Elite, Dallas Stars Elite Girls, Texas Tigers, Texas Heat, Texas Junior Brahmas, and High School Hockey. Between the boys' and girls' programs, they have competed across numerous organizations while attending district events and National Championships. Those experiences have allowed Copeland to build relationships throughout the hockey community while gaining valuable insight into the perspectives of players, families, coaches, and organizations across North Texas.

Throughout her years in hockey, Copeland has consistently believed that the success of high school hockey depends on collaboration, communication, and transparency. She has worked to bring people together, encourage cooperation between clubs, and advocate for decisions that strengthen the league as a whole rather than benefiting individual organizations.

As the representative for the western side of the Metroplex, Copeland brings both experience and perspective. She understands the needs of established programs as well as newer and growing organizations while recognizing the unique challenges surrounding travel, recruiting, player development, scheduling, and communication that western clubs often face. She believes every club deserves to have its voice heard and is committed to helping build a league that is fair, transparent, and focused on growing the game for every player.

The Texas Scholastic Hockey League is honored to welcome Cristen Copeland to its inaugural Board of Governors and looks forward to the leadership, collaboration, and experience she brings as the league continues building the future of high school hockey throughout North Texas.
